Travel Trailer Setup Must-Haves

The beginners guide to set up products that make life a little easier!

Everyone knows that set up can be rough when you are first getting your coach into your site. These are some set up must-haves to make setting up a breeze.

We have used and tested these products for at least the last year. Each item has a specific purpose, and we feel aids in the set up and unhooking process, which can be the most stressful part of your travel day. Getting to know your coach and how each component works is a vital part of knowing what you need and how to reduce your setup time!

Leveling before you un-hook: Lynx Levelers

Once you are at your site it is important to make sure your coach and all its components are working properly. We like these Lynx Levelers because they come in a compact bag and are simple to use. Each block links into the others to create a sturdy and quick platform to raise your coach a few inches as needed to ensure side to side level. You can find them on Amazon https://amzn.to/431wdeQ

Make sure you are using wheel chalks to keep your coach from rolling!

Stabilizer Jack Support

Stabilizer jacks are meant to support your trailer and prevent sway while moving around inside. Our coach still has the old style of scissor jacks (these are still used on most units) and we always want to make sure we aren't overextending them as this can cause issues such as bending and making them less efficient overall. We feel that these are important and will never go without! You can find the Camco Jack Stabilizers here https://amzn.to/44fPnOx

Prevent side to side movement with Bal X-Chocks

Our first coach was a 2016 Forest River Salem Cruze Lite. We loved this unit and its layout. One thing we didn't love was the amount of sifting side to side it would do anytime we walked around. After our first trip out I started to do a ton of research trying to find the best and most cost-effective solution. These Bal X-Chocks were just the ticket! Once they are placed correctly between double axel tires they immediately reduce the extra movement that was going on. After 5 years and two different double axel coaches we still sewar by them! Here is a quick link to the ones we have https://amzn.to/44jk9pI

Protect your electric jack!

Firstly, the last item that we have that is so important in our area is a cover for our electric jack. We consistently have intense sun and over 100 degree weather in the summer months and then freezing temperatures and snow in the winter. It is so important to protect your electric jack from the elements! This one is so convenient because not only does it cover the jack it also has hooks for your tow chains to clip onto to keep them easy to reach! You can buy it here https://amzn.to/46KZgp7

There's more! Always! The fun part about testing products and doing research is that we will ALWAYS find something more or different to serve a purpose in our coach. I only post about those products that we use and love. If you have a product you would like to see or have us test out let me know! I hope you enjoyed our small set up list (there's more!) and if you want to see videos of these products go to any of our social media pages and give us a follow!
